Welcome
I’m Mariana Lima-Williams, an educator, musician, and researcher with roots in Portugal and a Cambridge education. After seven years in the UK, where I completed my PhD in Medieval Music at the University of Cambridge, I returned to Setúbal with my husband to share my expertise in languages, music, and heritage research.
About Me
Hello, my name is Mariana Lima-Williams and, as my name suggests, I have strong ties to both the UK and Portugal. Portugal is where I was born, studied, and where my family comes from. It is a place I love deeply — and the place to which I have now returned after seven years living in the UK.

Living in England, particularly travelling there with a PhD scholarship, was the greatest opportunity of my professional life. I was honoured to be accepted to study Medieval Music at the University of Cambridge, and at Selwyn College, Cambridge. Equally important was meeting my husband, Craig.

Coming from a family of teachers, I have always considered learning a unique privilege. Even during my secondary education in humanities, alongside my music studies, I knew how transformative learning could be. My time at Cambridge made this even clearer: education opens up a world of opportunities, and it is never too late to begin.

I founded MLW Education in 2025, after moving back from the UK to Portugal with my husband, returning once more to Setúbal. My aim was to change our lifestyle while using my research expertise, teaching experience, and interpersonal skills to help others reach their full potential, gain confidence, and thrive in life.

As a multifaceted professional, I offer a variety of services, allowing each person to explore my website and find the best way I can assist them — whether through English or Portuguese lessons, or school tutoring. I support the Portuguese curriculum (all subjects up to Year 9, and humanities for secondary school), as well as humanities and social sciences such as History, English, and Music within international and IB curricula.

In addition, I have aligned my services with my academic background, particularly after completing my PhD at the University of Cambridge. This includes offering piano lessons at various levels, alongside research consultancy in Musicology, Medieval Studies, or Heritage Studies — the latter often linked to genealogy for those wishing to learn more about their origins.

Friendly and professional, I welcome you to contact me if you are interested in any of my services.
